Gifttrack

Gifttrack was born out of a personal need. I’ve always found it challenging to keep track of the gifts I’ve given to and received from family and friends especially during birthdays, holidays, and special events. I’d often forget what I gave someone the previous year or whether I thanked someone for a gift. Gifttrack is my attempt to solve this everyday problem a thoughtful tool to help people manage the joy and meaning behind gifting without the mental overload.

Challenge:

How might we help people easily track the gifts they give and receive, so they can stay organized, avoid repetition, and create more meaningful connections through gifting?

Process

Conducted qualitative research through informal interviews with friends and family to explore their experiences with giving and receiving gifts. Gained valuable insights into user pain points, emotional drivers, and common frustrations related to gift selection and exchange

Synthesized feedback into common user needs.

  • Track gifts by person and occasion

  • Attach notes or images for memory

  • Be reminded of upcoming events

  • Maintain privacy of sensitive gift data

  • Provide gift ideas to make the shopping process easier

Created user personas and journey maps to better understand gift-giving workflows.

Sketched out key flows. Add a gift (given or received), Choose an event or holidays. View gift history by person/event.

Wireframes

Built early wireframes in Figma to test layout and flow ideas. Focused on clean, emotional design with minimal steps per task. Created a clickable high-fidelity prototype in Figma. Visual language: soft colors, rounded shapes, gift-inspired iconography.

To ensure Gifttrack had a consistent and emotionally resonant visual identity, I developed a minimal style guide that aligned with the spirit of gift-giving thoughtful, joyful, and light.

Outcome

The Gifttrack design process was both structured and intuitive. Because the problem was personal, empathy came naturally but translating it into a scalable, user-friendly product required careful research, testing, and iteration. This project helped me sharpen my ability to turn everyday frustrations into meaningful digital solutions.
